Bike Art book out now

We are happy having received a new great art book for our collection: Bike Art. Bicycles in art around the world!
Kiriakos Iosifidis, author of the Mural Art book, managed to unite artists and people of different disciplines who all share one passion: bikes! BIKE ART is an effort to support the bicycle as a means of transportation, a statement of sustainability, as well as to celebrate it as a lifestyle that exists throughout society and across borders. On more than 256 pages over 250 international artists, illustrators, painters, sculptors, industrial designers, photographers, organizations, and anonymous citizens present their works of art and give us insight into their personal views and relations to these charming two-wheeled vehicles. It is a collection of colorful bicycle graffiti, paintings, remarkable bicycle designs, complex constructions, and various types of bicycles one can find on the streets around the world.

Our contribution to the book is a portrait of a good friend from the downhill team Vodkawasser and Knochenbruch. Painted after a photo of Jens Hogenkamp.

Hardcover, 256 pages, format: 21cm x 29cm, text: englisch.
ISBN: 978-3-939566-37-3

The limited print in 15" by 24" format is printed on high quality and environment-friendly paper and numbered and signed by the three artists. The sale will begin shortly on the website shop.3Steps.de for the price of 30 €. 3Steps donates the entire profit from the sale of the 100 prints to the German Red Cross to help Japan.

The Fukushima 50 Wall
In the beginning of April the artists collective 3Steps from Giessen painted a large-scale mural in memory of the victims of the natural disaster and in honor of the supporters in Japan. The title of the work of 3Steps "Fukushima 50" is a synonym for all the helpers who exposed themselves to nuclear radiation and still do to preserve their fellow men and nature from further damage. In mid-March the Fukushima 50 were the last remaining first technicians at the nuclear power plant Fukushima I. The workers sacrificed their health to prevent the nuclear meltdown by all means under extreme conditions. The picture thematizes the disaster in Japan in five stages and warns of the far-reaching dangers that may arise out of the disaster in the final stage. "Japan's sun is fading, but it still should encourage the people to work together for a new and stable future over all processes."
