GRAFF WARS – book out now!

Sometimes it gift giving before Christmas. This just happened when we got the new book “Graff Wars” directly from Norway these days. - 3Steps -

Few pop cultural phenomena have had a greater impact on youths these last decades than the Star Wars’ universe has had, both in Norway and the rest of the world. The first Star Wars movie premiered in 1977, and as the movie reached the theatres, Hip Hop, a small subculture, originating from The Bronx in New York, started its climb to a world wide expansion rarely seen before. The art form – graffiti, the music – rap, and the dance – breaking, drew inspiration from the surrounding community, from books, cartoon, advertising and movies. Graff Wars will document the huge influence the Star Wars legacy has had on graffiti and many of its performers. The book will demonstrate how one single phenomenon within a world wide pop culture is picked up, interpreted and given its own artistic expression. This book is a tribute to the generations who have been inspired and delighted by, and dedicated to George Lucas’ fantastic universe.

With artist profiles of Pay2, Cope2, Kacao77, SiveOne, Doc Nova, Mr. Flash, Wane, Goal and Dime One as well as lots of works of 3Steps, Yard5, The Nasty Boys, Fok, Sotem, Bates, Smug and many more. A must-have for every graffiti and Star Wars Fan.

Book MURAL ART Vol.3 out now

The journey into the colourful world of the mural art continues.

The book MURAL ART Vol.3 – MURALS ON HUGE PUBLIC SURFACES AROUND THE WORLD follows on in old manner to the first two parts of the successful series. On 272 pages, landscape format, once more the reader can go on an optical journey around the continents and gets an overview about the biggest mural projects of the world. Meet over 120 artists, crews and organizations of the international scene around their best facades and walls. From Europe to Africa, from America to Asia and Oceania are presented 1000 walls with techniques from graffiti and stencil to trompe l’œil, suiting after everybody’s fancy.

The focus is on the increasing disappearance of the limits of traditional painting and street art. Where does traditional painting end and where starts street art? It becomes obvious that the limits blur more and more and a dissociation of each is just within the viewers – or in case of doubt within the authorities – discretion. This time, too, the artists insist on providing the reader a personal insight to their artistic background and their motivation for bringing colour in our everyday life.

Artists like MODE 2, die FX CREW, 3 STEPS, ART FACADE, H02, HITOZUKI, SHOK-1, KACAO 77, VULCAN, 2501, SABER, CLYDE, TATS CRU, RON ENGLISH and many more point out, that into the world of mural art between colors and shapes, only sky is the limit!

Author Kiriakos Iosifidis, editor of the Greek graffiti magazine «Carpe Diem» managed it, even within this third edition, to present the great names of the wall painting scene authentically.

Once more the hardcover book fulfils all requirements as a solid publication of reference for all people who are into art, general public and urban planners.
